I love giving and truly believe I'm the greatest gift giver in the world. I take so much care and thoughts in giving to people, and am waiting with anticipation as the receiver is opening it, hoping they will love it as much as me. I spend hours planning and researching on google to ensure I purchase the perfect gift for someone, so let me explain the method to my madness by giving you a simple guide to the art of gift giving, from the heart!
Schedule reminders in your calendar, making a note of important dates i.e. birthdays, holidays, Valentine’s Day, anniversaries etc. Set a reminder that is reasonable prior to the occasion, allowing enough time to buy a gift and ship it to loved ones if they live far away.
Start planning by making a list of the receivers' characteristics, such as sarcastic, intelligent, artistic, sentimental, and outdoorsy. Favourite things can include: sports teams, jewellery, wine, cooking, and television. Consider things like: does this person enjoy experiences more than things? Do they only like practical things? Or are they also interested in things that have a decorative function (photos, paintings, sports memorabilia, etc.)?
Research online and look for ideas via their social media pages to give you clues. Pinterest and Etsy are a great tool for looking for inexpensive and personalised gifts online. Other ways of gaining clues about their likes are asking friends or family, or visiting their home.
Hand write your card. I take card-giving more seriously than gift-giving. Put thought into the card your select and handwritten message inside.
If you just don't enjoy the process of giving, call me and I will be more than happy to help you find the perfect gift for your loved ones.
